I'm going to start a story, and you can continue it. To do that, just post a comment.
Once there was a boy named Carson. He was 11 years old and he liked to turn junk into useful new things. One day, as he was looking through his garage, he found an old skate- board. It was worn out and did not have any wheels. He rubbed it to see how smooth it was. A genie popped out of a hole in the bottom!
"I'll give you five wishes. What is your first wish?" he asked.
"I wish that
... I had wheels for my skateboard" said Carson. The genie looked at him a little skeptically, and asked "Are you sure you want to spend a WHOLE wish on something as simple as THAT?"
ReplyDeleteCarson said "Sure, I want magic, flying wheels that will let me fly on my skateboard anywhere in the world!"
"Very well," said the genie, "Your wish is my command!" and at that, the genie folded his arms and blinked. A sudden plume of purple smoke engulfed the two of them, and then with a "whoosh!" the smoke cleared and Carson saw....
A skateboard with shiny new wheeles! It was sparkling with magic. He looked down at his hands and saw that the old skateboard was gone.

"Now I must warn you," said the genie, "Just having a flying, magic skateboard doesn't mean that you know how to RIDE a flying, magic skateboard. It can fly at twice the speed of sound! So you better learn how to fly it before you set out zipping through the sky!
ReplyDelete"That may be so", said Carson. But I'm pretty good at skateboarding, and I can't wait to fly."
ReplyDelete"I have my helmet and kneepads on already."
Saying that, Carson stepped on the skateboard, and pushed off.
"Ahhhhh! Help!" shouted Carson as he zipped by some clouds. Quickly he said, "I wish I could get down!" "As you wish," the deep voice said. He felt himself falling quickly but smoothly toward the ground. "Bump" "Ouch!" exclaimed Carson. "You have only three wishes left. Do you know your next wish?" asked the genie.
ReplyDelete"Yes," Carson said with confidence. "I wish that I was already an expert at flying this skateboard!" "You got it," said the genie. Carson felt a strange whooshing in his ears, then an eerie confidence settled over him. He suddenly knew what to do. Leaning ever so slightly forward on the board, Carson felt himself lift smoothly into the air. By bending his knees to crouch, he could accelerate. "This is great!" he thought. "Now I'm off to see the world!"
ReplyDelete"So many places to go to!! So many wonderful things to see!! I can take as long as I like and see them all. Hooray!!
ReplyDelete"My grandfather came from Turkey. I think I'll start there. Istanbul, here I come!"
Carson was soaring over the minarets and roofs of old Istanbul (it was called Constantinople, and old song says)and new Istanbul. He crouched on his skateboard and skillfully landed it in the old bazarre, filled with narrow streets and interesting shops. The air was filled with tantalizing smells of food being cooked with strange spices.
"I think I'll walk around and see some of the sights here," said Carson.
Then he went in to a shop."Wow!Look at that food!masala dosa!chicken! This is wonderful!
